VISUAL ART
The visual art program builds on prior art experiences, introduces new techniques and media, and develops self-expression and individuality. Designed to meet the Massachusetts Arts Curriculum Framework, the curriculum focuses on methods, materials, techniques, the Elements of Art, Principles of Design, observation, expression, art and the community, world culture and interdisciplinary connections.

Using resources such as books, prints, slides, video and technology, art history and art appreciation will be introduced.
Students will be assessed on craftsmanship, productivity, effort, use of materials, writing assignments, and self-assessment and group critiques.
Curricular goals include:
• exploring a variety of media
• improving artistic skills
